Gameplay information
Azkend is a Match-3 game of the Magic Match group. It is played on a hexagonal grid. The goal is to conquer each tile by matching over them. Once this is done, a talisman tile appears on the board, which must be dropped out at the bottom.
For scoring purposes, only your performance on each level counts. For example, a level completed with 80% of the time remaining will give you 80 points.
If a match contains at least one unclaimed tile, you get a lightning bolt. Matching on claimed tiles only clears the lightning meter. Upon accumulating 5 bolts, they are discharged on random tiles. Matching 7 tiles (unclaimed or not) results in an immediate lightning strike, plus one for each 3 pieces beyond 7 matched.
Level 3 introduces wild pieces. These can be used to match two (or more if using multiple wild pieces) different types of piece into one long match.
Level 4 introduces frozen pieces. A frozen piece cannot be matched and must be unlocked by matching next to it.
Levels 5 through 10 have bombs. When included in a match of length 4 or longer, the bomb explodes, claiming its tile and the 6 tiles around it. The part of the match after the first bomb can't be used to get immediate lightning bolts.
Level 10 introduces iron tiles which must be matched twice to be claimed.
Level 11 introduces the hammer. Including it in a match of 4 or more causes 2 random tiles on the board to explode.
The hammer and lightning bolts choose tiles in favor of the player if possible: if there are still unclaimed tiles, those will be targeted first, and if the talisman is already on the board, the tiles under it will be targeted first.
Tips
With the bomb and hammer, you don't actually need to match 4 powerup tiles. If there's a wild piece next to them, you can match the powerup, the wild piece and two other pieces to activate it. In the case of bombs, having more in your match is better since it will make more tiles explode, but the hammer will only smash 2 different tiles, so you might want to use as few in your matches as possible while still activating it.
If the 5 lightning bolts are being discharged, any new matches over unclaimed tiles will not interrupt it, and the bolt earned from the match might be used in the same discharge. However, if you match over claimed tiles, the storm stops immediately.
