A farming game is a type of time management game.

In literal farming games, you must grow crops and/or animals, keeping them sated and healthy, protecting them from hazards and collecting goods they produce. The goods can be either sold for cash, processed into higher-grade products or collected as level goals. Other types of games also fit this genre, such as Build-a-lot, where you must build houses and make profit from the rent or from selling them.

Usually the strategy aspect is more dominant in these games since the actions early in the level can greatly change how fast you can earn money later. However, good reflexes are also necessary, such as noticing when a product is ready to pick up or when a hazard appears so it can be averted as quickly as possible.
