Category:Game version: Restricted
From Badges Wiki
Restricted gameplay applies to games which are made as a downloadable casual game with a web trial version. The ability to earn rewards (such as badges) is the specialty of the hosting site, and the restrictions on the web version must be taken into consideration when developing a badge-winning strategy.
It is questionable why advertisements are used in a game that is an advertisement itself. The income from other games sold by the site host should cover the costs of having the trial versions running.
Some charactersitics of restricted games:
- Only one game mode available, but there are buttons that would launch other game modes.
- Limited number of levels. This may range from a very limited number of levels (showcasing only the basic features of the game) to a wider selection of levels where the missing ones are equivalent in complexity to the available ones.
- Limited amount of in-game time, like in the Tradewinds games.
- In games where you can choose characters, the choice of character may be limited.
- Some in-game upgrades are locked forever.
- Constant nag screens that tell you to buy the full version.
