LTP10/ML10 ratio

The LTP10/ML10 ratio is a measure of how easy it is to get LTP badges. It is calculated by dividing the required points to get the LTP10 badge by the points per game required to get the ML10 badge. The resulting number is equal to the number of games which would be required to the LTP10 badge if, each game, you earned exactly the number of points to get ML10. A lower ratio means that LTP badges can be earned in fewer games.

Criticisms

  • This ratio fails to account for games in which ML10 is impossible, or in which scores well in excess of ML10 are easy to get.
  • Using you own average points per game as the denominator would provide a more accurate measure of how many games you can expect to play before getting LTP10.
  • This ratio fails to consider how much time it takes to play a single game. For example, it might be easier to get LTP badges in a game with a high ratio if each game takes less time. Conversely, it might be very tedious to get LTP badges in a game with a low ratio if each game takes a long time.

Advantages

  • This ratio can be calculated before you've played even a single game. If you're just starting to build your badge album, this can allow you to compare the badge-earning potential of various games you haven't played yet like jobs online.
  • The ratio is player-independent; each player can agree on the value of this ratio. This can greatly simplify discussions.
