Tips on getting ML10
Getting ML10 is easy using the timer bug in this game. Each time a new ship is entering the screen, it will come in from right to left and when on its place it stops and the bar containting the timer will appear from underneath the ship. To trigger the bug, you need to pause the game on the moment that the ship stands still, but the timer bar is not (fully) in place yet. Even though the game is paused, the bar will continue to float to its place. You can unpause the game again when the bar is fully in its place. For some reason, this will give you lots of time. So your time bonus will be huge (relatively speaking). Be sure to buy that extra ship a.s.a.p. to exploit this bug even more.
To increase your chances of getting a perfect bonus, keep the small pieces (2 or 3 square size) and place only the larger ones, most notably the specials. When you have less space, you can use the smaller pieces to fill it in.
This game seems to have forced move generation, meaning if you have only small spaces left on your ships, you are more likely to get pieces that fit into those spaces. You can abuse this by deliberately separating a small space where only a 2- or 3-square piece would fit, which increases your chance of getting those pieces.
