Gameplay information
You are presented with a road network conaining various obstacles. Your goal is to direct the car to the finish, collecting as many points as you can along the way. The only control you have over the car is placing certain tokens on the road that affect the car's direction or its speed.
Scoring
Each level has a fixed score for completion. Additional points can be gained or lost in the following ways:
- Each tile travelled costs $10 (except with the Solar car)
- Each jump costs $200
- A coin rewards you with $100
- An errand (blue/white circle) rewards you with $200 (except with the Bus)
Obstacles and puzzles
- Ice, snow, rocks etc. on the road will kill you if you drive onto them.
- Buttons and gates: driving into the locked gate or bridge kills you. You must press the corresponding button first.
- Road vehicles such as snow plows roam the road randomly. You mustn't collide with them. Sometimes the road vehicle is needed to clear the path to the finish. They can also press buttons.
- Tunnels teleport you between two distant points.
- Dirt roads cannot be driven on, except with the Truck.
Vehicles
- Normal car
- Sports car: can make it across long jumps
- Solar car: driving cost is reduced to $5 per tile
- Bus: errands give $300 bonus
- Truck: can drive on the dirt paths
Notes on scoring
Your score is transferred from one game to another, which means you can submit the same score over and over. You can also replay levels to get more points.
Tips
By tinytam
- Determine which vehicle you want to try. If you are going to hit some off-road sections, you will need to use the SUV. If you want to make a long jump, you will need the sports car.
- Don't make a long route just to get coins or an errand, the mileage driven reduces your score. It is worth it if the items are pretty close, but if it is way out of the way, I found it wasn't worth it.
- I generally did not take risks by jumping, especially if the sole purpose is to get coins. The risk usualling outweighs the coins you earn.
- Once you have a route, try different vehicles to see the score changes (unless you are going offroad or jumping).
- In later levels, you do not have many directional arrows. This means you need to study the roads for the built in curves and use them to your advantage. This will result in a longer distance and you may have to forego some coins and errands, but it is the only way to get to the end.
