Pause the game, look for a good match, click the two blocks you want to swap, then click Pause again to resume the game. See, it won't swap them in pause mode but it will execute the swap as soon as the game is unpaused. Then click the Pause button again and repeat the sequence.
You get added seconds for every match you make that isn't dimmed. Using this method, you'll also complete the game with plenty of time left. Try to make matches of 4 or 5 as these score 200 and 500 points, respectively. Although you get bonus points for leaving the special blocks, you might get more points by using them.
