Tips

MP and JC: For Word Mojo, you just have to try not to get hung up on each individual set of letters and play fast, but smart.

When you start each level, make the longest word you can and stick it in the middle of the board. Be cognizant of exactly where you place it on the board so you optimize the use/availability of the Mojo Blocks. Use any remaining letters from that first set to cross with the first word. Placement is important - you want to leave as many letters as possible accessible for the next set of letters. If placing a word means you won't have anywhere to place the next set of letters, sometimes it's better to not place a word and just move on.

If you add on ed, er, s, ing or any other suffixes or prefixes to existing words with the next set of letters, you get points for the entire word - even letters you've already gotten points for. Sometimes it pays to be picky which word you add the S to (add to the higher point words first). Adding a S to two perpendicular words at the same time with a single S also racks up the points. You can even go beyond prefixes and suffixes and do things like add a T to rain to make train. If you have the choice to create net or ten, create ten. That way, you can have more options for adding more letters. An S and E will turn ten into tense. A D will turn it into tend. The only option I can think of for adding to net is an S. Use the higher point letters first, if possible, too.

Like Bespelled, I sometimes make words I've never heard of. If I just have a letter or two left when clearing a rack, I'll glance around and see if there is anywhere to logically drop it. As described earlier, sometimes I make longer words out of existing words. Dropping letters in between two parallel words - to make a 3 or 4 letter word - is also a good thing as long as it doesn't block access to otherwise usable letters for the next set. If you use all the letters in a rack, you get a 50 point bonus.

I have a slightly different style in Word Mojo than MomOfTwo, and although her tips are good, I thought I would add a few...

1. Go for the big bonus by being able to spell a 6-letter word in the bonus round. Balance vowels and frequently used consonants at first, and then hopefully you will have more than one way to make a word by time the 5th and 6th letters go down.

2. Focus your word placement so that you go as quickly as possible for the colored boxes so you don't end the round with less than 6.

3. After the first word in a round, try to use letters like s, er, ed, un, and ing to extend existing words to 6-letters.

4. Don't put a 6-letter word to begin a round, since there is no extra bonus in doing it in one shot and then it is hard to use all your tiles. Try to see if you can cross 2 words that use the whole rack.

5. In early rounds, it is valuable to play words that extend easily, like AIR (which can be maid to HAIR then CHAIR then CHAIRS, or PAIR then PAIRS, etc.) That way there are more letters you can draw to extend words in later rounds than just S and ED and such.

6. Since time moves fast, it is easy to overthink things early in a round and not have time to complete the last words. So I try to focus on a few quick goals:

- first, try to play a word that gets a good letter on a colored space
   - if not, play a word that sets up a colored space for the next draw
- next, can I extend an existing word?
- next, can I play a word that opens up an area of the board that has not been used?
- finally - can I quickly use up my remaining tiles without blocking paths to the colored tiles?
- then quickly hit submit!

Cheat

If you find the 180 seconds not enough, you can buy more time by setting the time of your PC a minute back. This will totally freeze the game for a minute, but gives you extra time to think and prepare your move. This is repeatable if you still need more time.

Solver

The Word Mojo Solver does deserve some explanation. It contains 3 input fields "Letters", "Board" and "Mojo".

The Letters field is the field to put the letters you have received in. The solver tries to find all possible words with those (pretty much as in every other word finder).

The Board field is meant to find possible extensions to an already existing word on the board. For instance, if you have spelled the word hair somewhere on the board and there is some room the make it longer; put "hair" in the Board field. If you have a C and S in your Letters field it will show chairs as possible extended word.

The Mojo field is for finding Mega Mojo words, type the letters you have placed on the colored tiles there. As soon as it has 3 or more letters it will check the dictionary for possible 6 letter words containing the letters you have specified. The letters you still need for the possible 6-letter words found are counted sorted on frequency and shown. If you are able to find a word that puts a letter with a high frequency on a colored tile you improve your chances of getting a mega mojo."
